As of update 4.5 in Fortnite, players have the ability to gift each other items.
This new mechanic isn’t live just yet, but thanks to players examining the data files that came along with update 4.5, we already know quite a lot about the pending feature.
The new option, which can be found under ‘Account And Content’, will let Fortnite players turn on the ability to “receive gifts from others”.
Epic hasn’t revealed quite what this will result in, but we’re assuming it will let players gift their friends skins or other cosmetic items.
We don’t know whether Epic will allow players to transfer V-Bucks or emotes to other players, but usually in games like this, currency is locked to accounts, so we’ll have to wait and see.
After fans spotted the gifting in Fortnite feature, Epic Games confirmed that it is coming “in the future”, though the developer has not yet revealed a date the feature will drop.
In a Reddit post, Epic employee and Redditor MrPopo said: “Gifting will be coming in the future.
“We don’t have an exact date to share, but we will inform you once we do.”
