The video game company claimed that this will give gamers a chance to finish the placement matches and will allow players to hit their desired rank.
Nonetheless, shorter seasons will mean that Blizzard Entertainment can launch more seasons. But, “Overwatch” players will be awarded less Competitive Points after each season ended.
However, the competitive play itself will offer more points. Instead of 10 points, players will acquire 15 points, and 5 points instead of 3 points for a tie. “Overwatch ” gamers who win a lot will have a better chance of gathering points.
Blizzard Entertainment will also demote players. Originally, the company only demoted the top tier players when they lost several games. Now, all players (including Silver, Diamond, Gold and Platinum levels), will be demoted when they keep losing, Dot Esports reported. Players with a Diamond level need to play five games per week to prevent decay.
Top 500 players
If an “Overwatch” player is placed within the Top 500 players on their platform, that player will be awarded an animated spray as well as an extra player icon.
These will be unlocked automatically when a player logs into their account the first time after the game’s season concludes.
Aside from that, the Top 500 players will also receive several Competitive Points based on their skill rating they achieved during the “Overwatch” Season 6. Some of the points are SR 1-1499 (Bronze): 100 CP, SR 1500-1999 (Silver): 200 CP, SR 2000-2499 (Gold): 400 CP and SR 2500-2999 (Platinum): 800 CP.
