Fortnite’s challenges are all over the place these days. It used to be we’d only get the leaks one week in advance, but some miners have been able to find a challenge list for every week of Season 5 battle pass challenges for every challenge from here to the end of things. It’s possible that many are placeholders, particularly in the late season. But we can be more confident about the ones that are coming up sooner, and the leaks have been very accurate so far this season, with only a few challenges. With that, let’s take a look at the leaked Season 5, Week 5 challenges, headlined by “hit a hole in one from different tees.” Info via Fortrisen:

Free Challenges:

  • Search chests in Junk Junction (0/250)
  • USe Rift Portals (0/3)
  • Eliminate Opponents  (0/3) HARD

Battle Pass Challenges

  • Deal Damage With a Clinger, Stink Bomb or Grenade (0/500)
  • Hit a hole in one from different tees (0/7)
  • Follow the treasure map found in Greasy Grove (0/1) HARD
  • Eliminate Opponents in Shift Shafts (0/3) HARD

The golf challenge makes use of the new golf ball toy in much the same way the basketball challenge of a few weeks back asked players to hit 3-point shots. Rift Portals, too, seems like a straightforward challenge: Epic has often integrated items like that into the challenges a few weeks after their initial release.

The rest here is the same sort we know and love: the grenade-oriented challenge is going to be a pain, even moreso because I just completed one that asked me to get eliminations with those items, and I’d rather not use them again. Junk Junction should bring a whole lot more action to the northwest corner of the map, and might even draw some activity down to Haunted Hills for anyone still trying to complete that challenge. “Eliminate Opponents” sounds like a placeholder to me: we do see that straightforward challenge pop up in Week 10 sometimes, but it usually requires 10 eliminations. I’d expect that to change when challenges go live on Thursday.

And that’s what we’re seeing here: a relatively straightforward week, with nothing too vexing like a sniper rifle or a trap challenge. I have a soft spot for the two-zones vertical construction of Shifty Shafts, so it will be nice to spend a little time down there with the new double-barreled shotgun.
